Three Scents from the Forest

From among yuica’s essential oils, I chose three blends.

Mezame — awakening.
Kiyoraka — purity.
Yasuragi — tranquility.

Just saying their names
seems to make my breathing a little deeper.

I’ve decided to offer a small number of these as essential oils, just as they are.
With the rest, I’m making sprays—
so you can enjoy these scents more easily, in everyday life.

Today, I’d like to introduce each one.

■ Mezame (Awakening)

Nioi-kobushi, a tree that blooms with white flowers in spring.
Its sweet scent is blended with hinoki and sansho pepper.

Softly sweet, and clear and fresh.
Like the air when you open a window in the morning.

■ Kiyoraka (Purity)

Hinoki blended with conifers like himekomatsu, the Japanese white pine.

They say this scent is often loved by women.
In class, I also learned it’s a scent
that gently supports a woman’s mind and body.

Leaves glittering in the light—
a clear scent that brings that scene to mind.

■ Yasuragi (Tranquility)

The base is kuromoji—
the tree used to make the little picks served with Japanese sweets.

I learned that kuromoji is rich in the same scent compound
found in lavender.

Gentle, like being softly wrapped up.
A scent I want nearby at the end of the day.

Sweet, clear, and gentle.
Each has its own face,
but all of them were born from the same Japanese forest.

I’ve given each spray a name.

Mezame became “Ohayo” — good morning.
Kiyoraka became “Komorebi” — sunlight through the leaves.
Yasuragi became “Otsukisama” — the moon.

I hope they’ll keep you company through the day, from morning to night.

Once they’re ready, I’ll let you know here.
